Swami Vivekanand Educational Institution started at Yamuna Nagar in the year 1964 by Late. Ch. Dharam Singh Kamboj, who is the founder of swami vivekanand educational society. Our society works in the field of education, health, economic upliftment & the sports activities. It has started a number of educational institutions like schools & colleges.

As part of extension of educational activities, the Swami Vivekanand Educational Society has started its own nursing college in the year 2007 named as Swami Vivekanand Nursing College, with Basic B.Sc Nursing Programme and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Programme at Jagadhri.

The Four years B.Sc Nursing Course and 2 years Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Course also designed that the nurses may be skilled not only in bedside care but also understand the principles of health and prevention of diseases. During the course of this training it is expected that they acquire a good deal of experience in the development of health teaching, in the outpatient department and wards of the hospital, Maternal and child health clinics, home visits both at rural and urban areas and domiciliary midwifery practice both at rural and urban areas.

The role of the nurse as a member of health team is very vital. The doctor makes the diagnosis and prescribes drugs but the total care of the patient has to be managed by the nurse. Hence a great responsibility lies with the nurse.

Nursing care is generally viewed as a unique health service system which aims at providing care to the individuals in various conditions which cannot be managed by the family members.
